While eating fish, I pondered over a worm’s death.
Imagine one meeting his end while rolling around on a sidewalk, stomped on by a human, perhaps one who’s succumbed to veganism. Now imagine another worm, this one descending into the depths of a body of water, body pierced by hook, soon to be consumed by a fish.
In both deaths, we humans might think, “what a terrible way to go.” Accurate when considering the first worm. But the second worm is experiencing a baptismal ascent towards a glorious end. He’s lived within the hierarchy, met his purpose, and will help feed a non-vegan human.
